I started writing about Chow Har Kew and how it is a mainstay on Lunar New Year dinner tables. I wrote about how the golden fried shrimp in the dish represented prosperity. 

Next, I researched symbolism associated with the New Year. That’s when I realized that this project, which I have self-imposed upon myself, is what my journey is all about: The Year of the Fire Horse.

To start, the Year of the Fire Horse symbolizes passion, strength, and courage. It may bring creative thinking and intense, transformative energy. And something that tends to push me to go forward? Uncertainty and upheaval.  

The one thing that really spoke to me, though, was that there could be a considerable change in both the personal and professional aspects of my life and career. 

I can feel that change. It has started with this “culinary crusade” of sorts. Where this will take me next is unknown, but inklings of it are coming to light.

I can feel the excitement, the fire lit within me, the Year of the Fire Horse!
